Tonight Im going out to dinner with a friend and tomorrow I plan on attending a picnic sort of event put on by a local candidate I supported.

Friday evening I went to see Kate and Pete. Peggy and Nick were there too. We ate some Chinese food, then watched A Tribute to Heroes, on TV. They had many well known actors and singers taking calls for fundraising. We were joking about demanding to talk to a certain favorite and promising more money if they agreed. Nick tried to call numerous times but kept getting a busy signal. Kate dialed up the web page and contributed online. I got some pictures.

This morning it WAS raining, so again the roofers aren't here! There is a huge dumpster in the yard and crap here and there, plus filth on the porch. Doesn't exactly feel like home. These guys took down the landlord's tv antenna (finally!) and - get this - tossed it into the bushes. The landlord used to live on the ground floor and I on the second floor of this house. The landlord hasnt been around much lately, though, so I guess they do what they like.

p.s. my archive has vanished. I dont know why. It must have to do with where the file is located vs. where I told it it was located...? Well there's no archive yet anyway.

It's 4 p.m. and the rain has stopped - maybe I will go out and take some pictures.

Heh, they thought it would rain so they weren't here when I got home this afternoon. That's a nice change. Pounding on the roof gets old really fast. It's hard to tend to chores with them and their stuff everywhere.
- > I need to sweep off the porch, which is covered in fine dirty sawdust-like grit.
- > I need to plant my bulbs, though there is little evidence it will get cold very soon.
- > I need to pick tomatoes and possibly get the houseplants in. A freeze would destroy the houseplants.

The roofers say they found huge leakage in the section above the bathroom, standing water between a metal roof section and the overlay. Maybe that explains why the bathroom is such a mess, with paint chips falling from the ceiling. ["~ ~ paint chips are falling on my head . ~ " ]
I hope they are done soon; it's is intrusive to have men all around the house while we are here. The other night they stayed til about 7, trying to catch up, and pounded on the roof with their automatic hammers all during dinner, right above our heads.

There were two yellow plastic plant pots on a rickety wooden table near the shrub where the very large brown spider lives. One of the pots is gone. A suspicious little pile of potting soil lies on the ground near it. I think the roofers did it and didnt want to tell on themselves, so they hid the broken pot and hoped I woudn't notice. I bet they just heartlessly tossed that darling little baby plant that I was nurturing into houseplanthood.
